About Playmakers

The Grow With Guidance System builds a foundation of experiences and skills for students in the school. The Playmakers Mentoring Program is devoted to supporting the healthy development of at risk youth. The Grow With Guidance System and The Playmakers Mentoring Program instill similar principles and can be implemented exclusively or as a powerful combination.

In working with today’s at risk youth, we have become acutely aware that there is a serious epidemic among our young men today, caused by what is becoming a fatherless society. Too many of our kids do not have a positive role model and a road map to lead them to true masculinity so they can learn how to be a great father. The following statistics from the National Center for Policy Analysis bear this out:

Over 24 million kids in our country live without their biological father.
The guiding compass in our society – fatherhood – is being abandoned.
Divorce rates are higher than ever.
2 out of 5 kids live in homes without their biological father
There are 10 million single mothers raising their children
Over 1/3 of all children live in single parent homes
71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes
85% of all youth men in prisons came from fatherless homes
90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes
63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes
75% of adolescent patients in substance abuse centers are from fatherless homes
85% of rapists motivated by displaced anger are from fatherless homes
135,000 kids are carrying guns to school

Our boys today have fewer masculine road maps for becoming great husbands and fathers.

who can be counted on – at home, in the classroom and in our community
who will become courageous servant-leaders
who will become “uncommon” husbands and fathers

OUR SOLUTION IS TRAINING COACHES AND LOOKING AFTER KIDS

Playmakers Mentoring Foundation trains mentors through

Values-Based Coaching (VBC) Youth and High School Coaching Clinics
“Captain’s Clubs” where we coach high school student-athletes to mentor younger kids
FREE Playmakers High School Full Contact Camp, and FREE Youth Football Camps
Training leaders whose role is similar to that of pastors in their congregations
Providing resources fatherless kids can count on, such as academic assistance, emergency shelter and/or transportation and food
Enlisting volunteers and business people who believe this is a priority
Playmakers coaches act as surrogate fathers in broken families.

WE HELP STABILIZE THE LIVES OF OUR YOUNG MEN BY:

building lasting relationships and introducing true masculinity
teaching character, servant leadership and values
building a family of men who care deeply for each other
